SOCIAL BLESSINGS IN THE SABBATH

The Sabbath is a very special day. At the end of Creation week God saw all that He had made and He saw that it was very good. It could not be improved upon. By taking as long as six days to create the world and all that is in it and by giving a day of rest at the end of the week, God set the pattern for the human race—six days of work and one day for rest, the seventh day, at the conclusion of the week.

It is interesting to note the different aspects of blessing that the day brings when it is observed with all the heart.

Everywhere there is rush and pressure. To keep the Sabbath means to have peace, to be able to slow down and take things at a more gentle pace for a full 24 hours by permission of our Maker. God says Come unto me and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Insecurity is removed on the Sabbath. There is a sense of identity and purpose and belonging. It is so good to feel secure and loved. As we come before God on the Sabbath He reminds us that we belong to Him, and that He cares for us; and that He will help us by providing a safe haven where we can grow and find our feet and our confidence.
